Within the framework of\nsupporting the 57357 group and its expansion\nprojects, AFNCI took over the cost of establishing and equipping a new\npathology lab in Hospital 57357 aiming to provide highest quality service to Egypt\u2019s\nchildren. The current pathology lab with an area of 65 square meters will be\nupgraded to occupy a complete floor with an\narea of 1050 square meters. Through three stages, the lab will be set up with the latest\nnovel equipment<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first stage is the setting up of automation pathology.The process that used to span over three to four days. Now it will be totally\nautomated by adding \u201csame day automation pathology\u201d equipment which will deliver results in one day. Hence the results will\nbe faster and more accurate which will contribute to faster diagnosis and\nconsequently the quick start of the treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second stage is\ndigital pathology, where the Association will provide the equipment that will\nscan specimens, store them and provide printed report while automatically\nsending a digital copy to the patient\u2019s file that is stored on the Hospital\u2019s\ndigital system HIS. Through artificial intelligence the system offers diagnosis for certain types of tumors to help\nphysicians obtain accurate diagnosis. This way the results that used to take a\nweek to be obtained through the old system will be released\nin one or two days with more accuracy, which will contribute to faster decision\nmaking for the children\u2019s treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The third stage,\nmolecular pathology, is a new type of labs that analyses\nthe biological molecules of the specimen. Through this process gene targeted treatment will be determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These services and\ncapabilities are offered for the first time in Egypt, while it is available in\nlimited places in the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is noteworthy that work\non the first stage started in 2019 and\nthe equipment were received. Work is in progress for the second and third\nstages. Hospital 57357 is the biggest project\nundertaken by AFNCI as it built it and equipped it, and\nis still supporting it as an important part of the Association\u2019s mission\nwhich is to offer free world quality service to children with cancer and to support the Hospital\u2019s expansion projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
