Cancer patients may often need blood and components transfusion during treatment. Hence the Association of Friends of the National Cancer-free Initiative, AFNCI pursues to afford safe blood for patients for free through compiling a database for blood donors\u00a0<\/span>with different blood types and making the database available for patients. Moreover they organize blood donation campaigns and promote improving blood collection services in the hospitals and national institutes working in the field of cancer:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The National Cancer Institute<\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Children\u2019s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357<\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ain Shams University Hospitals<\/span><\/p>\n

4.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Cairo University Hospitals<\/span><\/p>\n

5.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Egyptian Red Crescent<\/span><\/p>\n

Procedures that should be followed during blood donation<\/span>, blood and blood components donation is organized through certain stages to select proper donor depending on the following instructions:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The donor fills the blood donation form that includes:<\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Donor\u2019s data and contact information.<\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Donor\u2019s medical history that may affect his blood donation<\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The stage of medical check and revising the donor\u2019s medical history by one of the campaign\u2019s trained doctors, which is considered the last stage in selecting the proper donor<\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The medical history must contain no reason to prevent blood donation<\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The age should be a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 60<\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Blood pressure should be 120\/80<\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Hemoglobin ratio should be no less than 12 gm to guaranty donor\u2019s safety and blood quality<\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The blood donation stage, should be on a special chair equipped for donor\u2019s safety, the tools used must be sterilized and being used only once to guaranty donor\u2019s safety<\/span><\/p>\n

4.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The donor should be able to leave the donation place after drinking juice<\/span><\/p>\n

5.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The stage of testing donor\u2019s samples in specialized laboratories and the donor should be contacted to tell him the tests results and the proper time for donation<\/span><\/p>\n
